Yu Shan : CHINESE TAIPEI Travel Tourism World Heritage Hotel

Yu Shan : CHINESE TAIPEI

Yu Shan, part of Yu Shan National Park, is a central mountain range in Chinese Taipei and it also the name of the highest point of the range. It is also called Jade Mountain and its height is 3,952 m above sea level. The park is also known for its diverse wildlife and ecology. The environment around Yu Shan itself spans from sub-tropical forests at its base to alpine conditions at its peak. The big question on the minds of those lucky enough to have experienced this amazingly pristine world is how will the Burmese develop their natural treasure? Mass tourism and uncontrolled development of the kind epitomised by Pattaya and Patong Beach in Thailand could swiftly turn these uncut diamonds to shards of glass. Is there the wisdom and political will to protect the natural state of the islands while exploiting the wealth they promise impoverished Myanmar? Yushan is part of Yushan National Park, one of the national parks administered by Taiwan. Under Japanese rule, it was designated part of the Niitaka (New Highest) Arisan National Park (新高阿里山国立公園) in 1937. The mountain is a favorite of Taiwanese mountain climbers. Several other mountains are also located in the park, including Siouguluan Mounain, Mabolasih Mountain, Dafenjian Mountain, Sinkang Mountain, and Guan Mountain.

Made Mountain was first observed by westerners in 1857. W. Morrison, captain of the American freighter SS Alexander, sighted this mountain while departing from Anping Harbor, in what is now Anping, Tainan. He recorded this sighting in his naval log, and the mountain gained the name Mount Morrison in western literature. In 1900, after the annexation of Taiwan by the Japanese, two Japanese anthropologists, Torii Ryūzō and Mori Ushinosuke, became the first people to have been recorded ascending the mountain. They gave the mountain the name Niitakayama (新高山) or Mount Niitaka, literally the "New High Mountain", because it was even higher than Mount Fuji, the highest mountain in Japan. Under its Japanese name, the mountain was used as the secret code to signal the carrier fleet of the Imperial Japanese Navy to begin its attack against Pearl Harbor. The code was Niitakayama Nobore (English: "Climb Mount Niitaka") Yushan is the top among all the mountains in Taiwan . After twenty-four-year dedicated hard work of all the staff of Yushan National Park Headquarters, Construction and Planning Agency, Ministry of the Interior, Yushan National Park has become not only a recreation place for people in Taiwan, a sublime mountain for challenge of physical strength; but a international famous mountain as winning the nominee for New7Wonders of Nature through a global popularity poll, a campaign held by the Swiss-based New7Wonders Foundation. Don't waste even a time at this place if you want great, reasonably priced chinese food for lunch in the river north area, you've got to try yu shan. they don't use msg, which is great, their delivery is super speedy and their food is always fresh and tasty--no stange bits of chinese chicken here! i would suggest, however, that you opt for delivery and not actually go into the restaurant. it's small, loud and more than a bit dingy. unless you like that kind of thing... overall, a great spot for a quick lunch bite. I have only ordered delivery from this place, but it is right down the street. I think there's only one table inside anyway. The fried rice is just okay, ditto for the potstickers. The mu shu pork and the kung pao chicken are both pretty good. I haven't found a Chinese delivery place in Streeterville that I like better, but I am still kind of looking. This place is pricey for Chinese, if you ask me, and I find it annoying that they charge for delivery.
Yushan National Park invites you to appreciate the beauty of Yushan in metropolitan parks
Yushan National park HQ is staging a special “The beauty of Yushan” special exhibition from November 12 to the end of December. The exhibition will introduce the changes throughout the year in the park scenery and ecology to allow the public to understand and experience the beauty of the park. The Construction & Planning Agency, MOI pointed out that the park was established in 1985 and is a high mountain national park with special topography. It has over 30 mountains over 3000 meters high and mountains over 2000 meters account for two thirds of the park area. There is a gap in elevation between lowest and highest points in the park of 3600 meters. The park has valleys, cliffs and wind gaps. The weather is changeable and the park has three climates –temperate, warm and frigid, giving it a high level of plant diversity. The park covers only 3% of Taiwan’s total area but has over 50% of Taiwan’s endemic plant species. It has sub-tropical vegetation and also plants that grow in cold climates. The beauty of Yushan cannot be seen easily by everyone, consequently, the park HQ has organized this special exhibition to give people who have not had an opportunity to visit the park to appreciate its beauty
